Zakia, NTS’s Queen of Questing, is known for exploring celestial grooves. In her shows and DJ sets she draws from a broad selection of styles new and old, linking together everything from deep 1970s spiritual jazz to hypnotic calypso, psychedelic folk to swirling ambient.

This intimate mix invites us into the mind and emotions of Zakia during lockdown 2020, as she explains "This mix is a sonic diary of emotions conjured during the first lockdown - light + dark. Hope it resonates." An hour long carefully crafted sonic journey stitching together vocal samples and field recordings, over a bed of distorted ambient and electronic vibrations, offering fleeting moments of joy evoked by blissful jazz and heartwarming melodies. Beautifully disorientating.
